Technical Specialist
Level 2 (part time/ full time for the right fit)
Job Overview
Provide clients with technical installation, troubleshooting
and support services, on the client’s premises or remotely
from your home/office. Work is predominantly on Windows XP Pro
and some Vista workstations. Environment varies between standalone
workstations, networks, peer-to-peer, and domain-based. Additional work may
take place on basic networking equipment and it is desirable that applicant
be able to perform (or is ready to be trained) on server administration. Great
position for someone who is fluent on the workstation and is looking for more
experience on servers and advanced networking equipment.
Flexible hours, but must be able to commit at least 10 hours
a week
M-F 8am – 6pm.
Technical Skills & Experience
Must have:
* Proficiency in troubleshooting, fixing, installation and configuration of
Windows based workstations in stand alone, peer-to-peer and domain based networks.
* Proficiency with repair of corrupted files and programs, restoring systems,
data backup solutions, anti-virus software.
* Previous experience working in a small business environment – peer-to-peer
networks, 1-3 servers.
Non-Technical Skills & Experience
* Ability to work in a disciplined, focused manner when working outside of
an office environment.
* High self-organization skills.
* Ability to work in pre-sales situations.
* Ability to research and recommend new products.
* Applicant must have their own computer and an internet connection at home.
* Applicant must own a reliable car and use it for transportation to client
sites.
* Must live in Stamford, New Canaan, Darien, Norwalk or Greenwich
Other Requirements
* Desire to grow with a startup IT Services company.
* Willingness to be compensated on an hourly basis.
* Excellent documentation skills – for technical and non-technical audiences.
